We are also fully government approved and carry out installations under the OLEV grant scheme for at home and the workplace. This means that end users can claim up to £500 off their installation as part of the scheme initiative. Read on for a summary of the options available.


Charging At Home

A Guide to the OLEV Grant Scheme

The “OLEV Grant” refers to a government grant for electric car home chargers, provided by the Office for Low Emission Vehicles (OLEV).

  • The OLEV grant, otherwise known as the Electric Vehicle Homecharge Scheme (EVHS), provides up to £500 off the cost of purchasing and installing a home charging point.
  • EVHS is available for most electric cars and hybrids
  • You can claim for one charepoint per vehicle with a maximum of two vehicles per household.

How do I qualify for the grant?

  • You must have purchased an eligible vehicle from 01/10/16 onwards.
  • You must have off-street parking.
  • You must have an OLEV-approved charger installed.
  • The installation date must not be more than 4 months ahead of the date of delivery or date the customer becomes the registered driver of the vehicle.
  • You must use an OLEV-approved installer like John Marchant Electrical Ltd.

How do I make a claim?

  • We will make a claim on your behalf once eligibility criteria has been met.


Charging At Work

A Guide to the Workplace Charging Scheme

The Workplace Charging Scheme (WCS) is a government grant available to businesses, which can reduce the cost of installing electric vehicle chargers for their staff by up to £10,000.

  • You can claim for up to £500 per charger, with a maximum of 20 chargers per business.
  • The WCS is available to any business, charity or public authority, with the following conditions:
    • You must have sufficient off-street parking.
    • You will need to show an existing or future requirement for electric vehicles within your fleet.
    • You must use an OLEV-approved installer like John Marchant Electrical Ltd.


How do I make a claim?

  • Complete the online application.
  • Once approved, you will be emailed a voucher code, which can be presented to your OLEV-approved installer. The installer will then use this to claim the grant after the installation has been completed.
  • The voucher code is valid for 120 days from the date of issue.
